Perfect Love Casts Out Fear

Do you or someone you know struggle with fear? Today's modern term for fear is stress. I bet you know a lot of people dealing with stress.  But the Bible refers to it as fear…fear not, and be not afraid is mentioned over 300 times as a command through out the Bible.   God knew what fear would do to our mental, emotional, physical and financial well-being. Meditating on Fear is the root cause to many issues in our lives; it produces fruit like, stress, anxiety, worry, depression, unforgiveness, anger, bitterness, sickness and disease, relational problems, even financial problems.

Fear has been scientifically proven to be a cause of disease. ScienceDaily (Mar. 26, 2008) states intense fear can make our blood clot and increase the risk of thrombosis or heart attack… Anxiety patients have a statistically higher risk of dying from heart disease by a factor of 3 or 4. The Bible says fear results in heart problems: “Men’s hearts are failing for fear.” Luke 21:26.

Fear weakens the power God gives us to accomplish his plan for our lives, Jeremiah 29:1.  It is NOT God’s will for us to walk in fear.  2Timothy 1:7. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

  1. Fret not—He loves you (John 13:1)
  2. Faint not—He holds you (Psalm 139:10)
  3. Fear not—He keeps you (Psalm 121:5)
So why do we get fearful? I know for me personally, it was not knowing that God loved me, I was told in church He loved me, but I didn’t know He loved me. Satan works overtime trying to convince us that God doesn't love us. He uses people who have mistreated us, negative words spoken over us, or bad situations that happen to us. He tries to convince us, by saying things to us like, if God really loved you He wouldn’t have let that happen, or you’re no good, so God won’t do that for you. Or the classic, God made you sick to teach you a lesson. Have you ever heard things like that? These are fear filled words spoken by Satan to us that we meditate on until we believe it and when we believe it, we receive it.

The Bible clearly states, that there is NO FEAR in love, that perfect love casts out fear because fear has torment (sickness, disease, stress, anxiety, depression etc.) and he that fears is not made perfect in love. (1 John 4:18) So what is the answer? If perfect love casts out fear, then what is perfect love? And how do we get it?

Perfect love only comes from God. Do you KNOW that God loves you? I didnt and it showed in the choices I made in my life. If we knew that God loves us, we would think different, we would believe different, we would act different, we would have different in our lives.

I heard Joyce Meyer say she didnt KNOW that God loved here, so she confessed that God loved her everyday until she got the revelation of it, so I did for over a year straight. I remember the day I was hit with the revelation of God’s love for me, I was driving down the road confessing God loves me and I heard God say I love you, I was so overcome with love, I had to pull over, I cried and cried. When you know God loves you, your whole life will be transformed. Fear was cast out of me; I no longer was being tormented with depression, anger and anxiety. I knew God loved me, fear had to go. And when the enemy tries to rear its ugly head through fear, I cast it down and confess God loves me and good things happen to me because of His love for me. You see confessing God’s word out loud, is your weapon, against the lies of the enemy that is trying to convince you otherwise.

So if you want fear to go, confess out loud the truth that God does love you, daily and ask god to give you a fresh revelation of His love during attacks of fear. And I encourage you to say several times a day with confidence, "God loves me! Jeremiah 31:3 says, Yea, I have loved you with an everlasting love.  Don't allow the devil to steal this truth from you. I pray you experience the LOVE of Christ that surpasses all knowledge today!
